Grant Hier served as the inaugural poet laureate of Anaheim. Other honors include Prize Americana, the Nancy Dew Taylor Prize, the Kick Prize, and the World Refugee Day Courage Award. Poetry books are Untended Garden, The Difference Between, and Similitude. A volume of poetry and instruction, Practice: 394 Poems in 365 Days, is forthcoming. He co-authored with John Brantingham, Poet Laureate of Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks the flash fiction book, California Continuum Vol. One. Grant’s poetry, fiction, and essays are widely anthologized. He’s been entered for three Grammy Awards (as both writer and producer). As a voice actor he contributed to the audio book of George Saunders’ Lincoln in the Bardo, which won the 2018 Audie Award for Audiobook of the year. Grant is a Full Professor at Laguna College of Art + Design, poetry editor for Chiron Review, and on the advisory board of Citric Acid.
