Andy Jones was named poet laureate of the city of Davis in September, 2014. His second term began in 2016, and concluded in September 2018. In addition to placing poems in a great number of small journals and magazines, and anthologies such as Flatman Crooked’s Slim Anthology of Contemporary Poetics – 2010, Andy published his first book of poetry, Split Stock, in 2006, his multi-modal book of poetry, photographs, and essays, Where’s Jukie?, in 2014 (with his wife, Kate Duren), and his poetry book In the Almond Orchard: Coming Home from War in 2016. Andy regularly gives poetry readings throughout northern California, having performed his work in Modesto, Sacramento, San Francisco, Crockett, Lafayette, and before 600 children in Natomas. Andy taught the Advanced Poetry Workshop to undergraduates at UC Davis in 2001, 2011, and 2012, and has served on the poetry faculty of the San Francisco Writers Conference since 2005.
